Safety & Materials Statement

At Thistle & Felt, every piece is handcrafted with care, using natural, low-tox materials chosen for their safety, beauty and durability. We believe that what surrounds our little ones should be calm, meaningful and made to last.

Materials

• 100% Pure Wool Felt – OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and compliant with UNE-EN 71-2 and UNE-EN 71-3 toy safety standards. This ensures the felt is independently tested for harmful substances and certified safe for use in children’s products.
• Pure Wool Stuffing – Sustainably sourced, biodegradable and free from synthetic fillers.
• Wooden Hoops & Beads – Unfinished, untreated natural wood sourced locally in Australia. These are craft-grade components, chosen for their strength, simplicity and natural finish.
• Natural Threads & Twine – Cotton, linen and hemp fibres, selected for their durability and low-tox qualities.

We do not use polyester, foams, or synthetic fillers in any of our designs.

Safety Considerations

Thistle & Felt mobiles and décor are designed as decorative items only. They are not toys and should never be placed within reach of babies or children.

At Thistle & Felt, we advocate for mobiles to be displayed to the side of the cot or crib, not directly above. This way, your little one can still enjoy the gentle movement and visual focus of the mobile, while ensuring nothing hangs within reach.

For safe use:

• Hang securely from a ceiling hook or wall arm.
• Position well out of reach at all times, including when a child is standing.
• Regularly check knots, strings and fixings remain tight and secure.
• Remove the mobile once your child can push up on hands and knees in the cot or crib.

Compliance & Responsibility

The felt that we source and choose to work with complies with internationally recognised safety standards (OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, UNE-EN 71-2, UNE-EN 71-3). While our wooden components are craft-grade and untreated, they are used in ways that make them suitable for decorative purposes.

As our mobiles are classed as nursery décor, not toys, they are not subject to full toy certification. To ensure transparency, we provide this statement so families can make informed choices.
