I absolutely ADORE the way this mobile turned out! We got the Ballerina Swan as a gift for our newborn girl but it has surprisingly also been a big hit with our ballet/tutu loving 2.5 year old as well. Every night since we’ve hung it up, she gives it a little twirl and asks for us to play music from the Swan Lake. It helps soothe her mind and brings a sense of calm to wind down her busy day. It’s so beautifully crafted and I can also rest easy knowing this is made from Oeko-Tex safe material (which is very important to us). I handcraft heirloom nursery mobiles on the Mornington Peninsula using pure wool felt and natural materials. Each piece is stitched with intention, inspired by nature and childhood wonder, and made to bring a sense of calm and meaning into your little one’s first space.

What materials do you use?
We choose materials with care, focusing on purity, safety and a connection to nature. Our felt begins its journey on Australian and New Zealand farms, where Merino sheep are raised for their soft, fine fleece. This wool is then sent to Europe, where artisans use traditional soap-and-water methods to transform it into felt, without the use of harsh chemicals - a process that creates a supple, durable material perfect for heirloom pieces.
The felt sheets that we use are certified non-toxic to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, UNE 23735 Class M1, NEN-EN-13501 Class B1, meaning they are tested for harmful substances and certified safe for use in children’s products.
The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally uniform testing and certification system for textiles. The felt that we use has been tested for chemicals known to be harmful to health, such as lead, and conforms to the highest safety class (class 1). No nasties are used to create and dye this felt.
Each mobile is hand-stitched using this pure wool felt and filled with matching wool stuffing from a local farm.
We finish every design with a bamboo hoop and cotton twine.
When will I get my order?
Each Thistle & Felt piece is handmade to order, with a typical production time of 1–2 weeks. Once complete, your order will be shipped via Australia Post using your chosen delivery method.
International Shipping
We currently ship within Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
All orders are packed with care and sent via tracked services.
- New Zealand: Allow 10–14 business days for delivery.
- United Kingdom: Allow 2–3 weeks for delivery.
Please note that international shipping times can vary due to customs processing in your country.

Every Thistle & Felt piece is lovingly handcrafted on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, using carefully sourced natural materials, both local and imported.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.
Duties and Taxes
International customers (NZ and UK) are responsible for any import duties, taxes or fees charged by their local customs authority. These charges are not included in our product prices or shipping costs and are payable by the recipient upon delivery. We recommend checking your country’s import thresholds before ordering.
What is your return policy?
Our Happiness Guarantee
We want you to feel calm and confident when choosing a handmade heirloom for your nursery. Every Thistle & Felt piece is carefully crafted from natural, certified-safe materials. If for any reason you’re not delighted with your order, you can return it within 14 days of receiving it for a refund or exchange.
How it works:
Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. This means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
Item must be unused, in original condition and packaging. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition you received it.
Custom or personalised orders (e.g. colour changes, bespoke designs) cannot be returned unless faulty.
Refunds will be processed to your original payment method once the item is received and inspected.
If your item arrives damaged or faulty, we will cover all return shipping costs. For change-of-mind returns, the buyer is responsible for return postage.
Australian Consumer Law
This policy operates alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which guarantees a refund or replacement if an item is faulty, damaged, or not as described.
To start a return, contact us at thistleandfelt@gmail.com. If your return is accepted, we will provide instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without prior approval will not be accepted.
Product Safety
Our mobiles are designed as decorative pieces only and are not toys.
Always hang securely out of reach of babies and children. Do not place directly above a cot, crib or sleep space within reach.
Do not allow children to pull, play with or place any elements in their mouths.
Regularly check that all knots and strings remain secure and remove or reposition the mobile once your child can sit, pull up or stand unaided.

How do I hang my mobile?
Our mobiles are designed with a simple loop at the top so you can choose the hanging option that best suits your space:
- Ceiling hook – the most secure and long-term option.
- Full-length floor stand – perfect for positioning beside the cot or change table. We recommend moving your mobile to a ceiling hook once your little one starts crawling, to avoid them pulling on the stand.
- Cot arms – these can be used with caution. Always check the arm is firmly attached, and never position a mobile directly over the cot while baby is sleeping or unattended.
- Wall-mounted arm – available online, a lovely alternative to a floor stand or cot mounted arm.
- Transparent adhesive hook – because our mobiles are very lightweight, an adhesive hook can work well for renters. Just be sure to follow the product instructions carefully and check the weight rating.
Each option lets you enjoy your mobile safely while adding calm and wonder to your nursery.
What if I change my mind?
If you’ve placed an order and changed your mind, please get in touch within 24 hours. Because each mobile is handmade to order, I begin preparing materials quite quickly. If you contact me within this window, I can usually cancel or adjust your order before work begins.
If your order has already entered production, you’re still covered by our 14-day Happiness Guarantee- as long as your mobile is unused and in its original condition, you’re welcome to return it for a refund.
